Summary: Touga looks back on his relationship with Utena with a bit of resentment. As un-mushy as possible.

Fire

I'm not the fool that you might think
arrogance not to make me weak
I know the world beyond the ends
but hey, I've got to pretend
once burned and twice shy so
who's burned me yet
I've still got nine lives
and you'll never peel me down
if I let you what would you find
tell me you want to
we're all the same inside
and I know better than to do this
but I can't help it
when I feel it
and I know that you won't believe me
never had a reason anyway
why bother to try
when the coffin is prepared
it's a fate we share
you're lying in it
sealed inside
doesn't it feel good
never been burned but
baby you've set me on fire

I'll admit that this poem doesn't allow Touga too much depth, but being the cliché of a playboy is part of his personality, and it contributes a lot to the lacking he finds in himself after Utena defeats him. Reading it over I realized how bitter it is, but I think Touga does harbor some resentment against Utena for not giving him a fair chance, considering how idealistic and optimistic she is when it comes to people in general. Rejection sucks. Write me at rachel_rewind@hotmail.com.
